Metro to debut in Delhi, India
Wholesale and cash-and-carry retailer Metro is set to open its first store in Delhi, after the entry of French retailer Carrefour into the Indian market in 2011.
The cash-and-carry center is expected to operate out of the Agarwal Fun City Mall in East Delhi's Karkardooma, according to Indian Express.
The wholesale major, which currently operates nine retail outlets at six locations in India, earlier announced plans to have 50 stores in all parts of the country.
Metro will reportedly conduct supplier training programs in the city to support and guide various target groups, including caterers, chefs, dhabas, restaurant owners and traders.
The Germany-based company has over 700 stores in 30 countries worldwide and had sales of EUR31bn ($40.9bn) in 2010.
