Mega retail warehouse BIG BOX to open in Singapore

RBR Staff Writer Published 13 March 2014

BIG BOX, Singapore's largest mega retail warehouse store, is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2014, offering 400,000ft² of shopping experience run by a single operator.

The eight-storey complex, set on 5.6 hectares of land, will have approximately 1.3 million square feet. It will also have 600,000ft² space set aside for warehouses and logistics activities.

The Singapore-listed company which sells consumer electronics and furniture, said it's first shopping mall in Singapore, Big Box, will feature shops and restaurants, a hypermarket, an exhibition hall and warehouse facilities.

BIG BOX's CEO Wong Ah Long said construction is well underway and the entire complex is expected to receive the Temporary Occupation Permit by August 2014.

"We expect the store be operational by the fourth quarter of 2014, before Christmas. As we approach the opening date, we will reveal even more exciting features including how BIG BOX can also serve as a business hub," Long added.

BIG BOX is 51%-held by Singapore Exchange Mainboard-listed TT International, with the balance held by two Singapore shareholders - Utraco Investment Pte Ltd (30.4%) and Prima BB (18.6%).
